Summer Catch Up!! -May

We'll start with Mother's Day since I started this post a couple days after...

Mother's Day didn't start out so promising!!

Woke up to my little fella looking sweet as could be and pulling the covers over him because the light & fan were too much for him, I fell back asleep... he didn't.  He went to the playroom to watch tv, then downstairs to get milk then came back up to get in bed because he wasnt' feeling well, 20 minutes later - HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ME . . . . BARF IN MY BED! . . . it looked like cottage cheese!!  I like cottage cheese, but I don't do well with puke, I looked right at DJ and said, you HAVE to clean it, he said, "no, that's all you", I told him it was Mother's Day, so he was obligated. . . BAM!  Never felt so good about my kid throwing up as I did right then - nah nah nah boo boo, sucks to be you ;)  Boston ended up feeling better throughout the day, so that was a bonus!  We went to Willie's (DJ was working) where the kids gave me my Mother's Day gifts.  Madi gave me a coupon book to use for chores & hugs n' such.  Boston gave me a flower with his picture on it & a cute little poem.  They both gave me flowers & a cool K-State frame that I wouldn't buy for myself, but REALLY wanted!

While I may not have a typical pet named "Willie" we have a bigger "pet" with the same name!!

DJ & I went on Madi's field trip to The Coterie Theatre to see the play "James & The Giant Peach".  We were assigned a group of 3 girls & 4 boys (note to self, next time only say one parent is coming and we'll get half the amount of kids!!) The kids had an hour (or longer) to walk around the mall in Crown Center, which, I think was too much time, the kids didn't have money and the shops weren't really for 2nd graders, but there really wasn't much else for them to do there.  If I had thought about it sooner we would have taken our group to Kaleidoscope, it may not have been exactly what kids in 2nd grade wanted to do, but I think it would have been better than just wandering around.  We all had pizza, then on with the show!

Who wants to take a trip in the middle of the week to El Dorado?!?  We do, we do!!  DJ & I drove to El Dorado because we had a meeting (that if everything goes well I will blog about - I'm dreaming it will be soon, but realistically, it won't be).  While we were there we got to hang out with Amy, Josh & the kids.  We had a great time and the meeting went well!

Pax & Harper needed in the pic too!

Next up - Recital!  Madi's dance recital was a train wreck!  I went to dress rehersal, the kids were supposed to be there, ready to dance, by 6pm... they didn't get started until after 7.  We should have been done by 7:30 (to my best guestimation after they finally got started).  I don't want to bash her studio, it's only their 4th year, but I should have maybe done a little investigation before we signed her up there.  She loves dance, she hardly ever sits still at home & is dancing all the time... Anyway, back to dress rehearsal... They didn't get started because they couldn't get the music to play over the house speakers.  I know there are always set backs, I have been through many rehersals in my day, but the problem I had was that it didn't seem to be a big deal to anyone.  My instructor would have been screaming at someone to get it fixed - yesterday!  Besides the fact the recital was somewhat of a bust compared to what mine were growing up & what Madi's were in Manhattan, she loved being on the stage & dancing, so I guess that's what is important.

End of school Field Day... here are a few pics to do the talking:

End of School fiasco . . .
Madi asked if DJ or I could come to lunch with her one day the last week of school, I had to work, but DJ had Thursday off so he told her he would come eat with her, what would she like?  Before she ever decided what she wanted him to bring she found out she was having a pizza party that same day, I told DJ, there's really no point in you taking her lunch if she's having a pizza party, AND I told Madi the same thing, she didn't like it, but understood that there wasn't a reason for him to come when really she just wanted something besides school food for lunch.  ANYWAY, Boston said if you're off, come eat with me!!  DJ called the school to find out what time the KINDERGARTENERS had lunch, they told him & he let them know that he would be coming to eat with Boston.  When DJ showed up at the school, they asked why he didn't get there earlier to eat with Madi, she waited for him.  Apparently somewhere along the line someone in the office told Madi that DJ was coming to eat with her and he missed it.  Madi was upset because she thought that DJ was coming afterall.  I guess she had pretty much gotten over it until DJ went outside to find her because the office told him she waited on him and some of the kids were saying "oh, Madi ate lunch by herself" "why didn't you show up" "why are you late?" - that upset her.  Her BF Katy gave her a hug and said, "it's ok, my mom forgot one time too".  What a sweet girl!!

Come to find out the pizza party was at 3o'clock - DJ & I scramble to get to Dairy Queen, buy Dilly Bars & come to the rescue at the pizza party!  Whew, that was a close parent fail!  Oh, and ol' daddy had time to run by the floral shop & get her a small arrangement to say he was sorry (does she have him wrapped around her finger or what?!)

Last day of school pics:

Flowers that Madi's teacher sent me - ME! Say wha?!

The sweet card that came with them!

These showed up on my door step recently:

Two of our waitresses dropped them & ran!  They know how much of a fan I'm NOT of animals and thought I had been depriving my children of a pet so they bought them fish.  So far they're still alive and our waitresses (Kelsey & Haley) still have jobs ;)

It's not everyday you graduate from pre-school, so the kids & I got up early and headed to KC to watch my neice Tessa Marie walk across the stage!  It was super cute!!

Now that school is over we have started Basketball, Baseball & Softball!

Madi plays on a basketball team that DJs cousins Kelsey & Shawna coach.  It's all girls from DeKalb and they play in Gower - it's East of St. Joe . . . Madi was all about it until a week or two after the season actually started, she hated the drive and all the girls they played against were TALL and had played together for a couple years, they had a rough season, but stuck with it and got better!

Shawna & Kelsey talking to the team at their 1st game

Madi had her first dance competition this year - They went to Worlds of Fun ... there were originally 5 girls in her dance, 3 were supposed to compete and 1 had a last minute family emergency, so only Madi & another girl competed, they placed 3rd!  Not bad!!
